On a private terrace above Barcelona’s Sant Antoni barrio, fellow British exile Angela Carroll recreates the afternoon tea she so craved after being here 9 years without it. As I am often asked about the afternoon tea I used to host, which sadly is impossible for me to do at the moment, I like to pass on her details so tea and cake lovers of the city don’t need to miss out.
Rooftop Tea’s open events happen every two months and can be enjoyed by solo tea lovers or one or two friends, the group will never be more than 9. Don’t be afraid to go alone, you’re sure to meet someone you’ll get along famously with.
For those who want a more intimate affair with just their own friends, for a birthday party, hen party, baby shower or reason of their choice, Angela will prepare a bespoke afternoon tea, personalised cake and give the terrace to her guests for 2 hours so they can make the most of their time together.
Depending on the season you’ll be greeted with a glass of Pimms, a selection of savouries and finger sandwiches, of course followed by scones with clotted cream and jam and then three sweets, which can vary from desserts such as cupcakes, brownies, mini Eton mess or Victoria sponge. Let’s not forget the tea and some bubbly cava to go with it all too.
To enjoy all of this and for dates of upcoming events, Angela can be contacted via the following social media, price for afternoon tea is 35 euros per head. Rooftop Tea can also be called upon for small private or business catering.
